In this workshop, participants will be guided through projects of their choice, using handbulding techniques to create functional and sculptural ceramic wares. There will be a particular emphasis on tips and tricks to unlock and translate your creative voice.

Techniques explored include but are not limited to: pinch pot, slab work, coiling and surface decoration

Participants will aim towards 1 -3 works which may take the form of planter pots, mugs, plates, vases or scupltural pieces, with an aim to develop a cohesive collection/ unique visual style.

This workshop is for people who have done some hand built ceramics before, please book into Intro to Handbuilding the day prior if you would like to attend the whole weekend!

Bonnie Hislop is a Brisbane based creative with a particular focus on ceramics.

From her Brisbane studio she creates functional ceramic art pieces that are meticulously hand built and painted with bright colours and intricate line detail. As a self confessed accidental cat lady, Bonnie's current practice has evolved from a small range of cat (and occasionally dog) vessels to include an ever expanding and evolving array of creations.

Bonnie has several years experience facilitating regular classes ceramic illustration and hand building techniques at various venues around Queensland. She has recently opened her first Brick and Mortar Showroom and Painting Studio in Fortitude Valley’s California Lane, and is currently preparing to open a second maker space in Yeerongpilly.

She is a featured in Frankie magazine's book of Australian creatives, 'Look What We Made'.
